Cute dogs, tasty beer, good food? How does it get better than this?!
We know how much Washingtonians love their dogs, just check out how cute these guys are! Luckily, there are many restaurants and beer gardens that will let you bring your furry companion with you for a drink out or a bite to eat. Here are six dog-friendly places for you to check out!
1. Wet Dog Tavern
Of course, a beer garden named “Wet Dog Tavern” is going to be dog-friendly! The front lawn is the designated area for the puppers where you can sit beside them and sip on one of their many beer and cocktail options. This tavern also strives to create community and bring awareness to life-threatening diseases in dogs. They have fundraisers, and other events to support the community and fund research for these illnesses.

2. Hook Hall
Any pets are welcome at Hook Hall, just as long as they are on a leash. Their outdoor seating area has rows of picnic tables for humans to sit and turfgrass for your four-legged best friend to sit by your side. They even serve treats called “Hook Hall Hounds” such as Da PBB which are classic peanut butter treats, and Woof Woof Ice Cream made with yogurt, pumpkin, turmeric, and of course peanut butter. Additionally, every few months they plan an event called “Yappy Hour” where dog owners, accompanied by their dog, get discounted beer and a dog treat, so keep an eye out for that!

3. Bark Social
Bar Social is a large off-leash dog park with a beer and coffee bar for owners. So, beer, coffee, and dogs? How sweet is this?! Well, every Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. is Yappy Hour when cocktails, frozen drinks, and wine are 20% off! Dog are strongly recommended to be registered on the park’s online platform, if not they ask you to bring proof of your dog’s vaccinations record. Get a drink for yourself and a special treat from the pup’s menu for your good boy.

4. Brewski’s Barkhaus
Brewski’s was DC’s first-ever dog bar that opened in November 2020! Part dog park, part restaurant and bar, this is an awesome indoor and outdoor place for you to relax with a snack and a drink in your hand while your dog runs in and out of the restaurant which has a fenced-in area too. “These animals are a great way to break the ice and help bring the community together,” the Barkhaus press release mentioned. They serve locally sourced craft beer and wine for humans. Doggos must be registered before entering the park to protect themselves and others.

5. The Brig
Have a drink with your four-legged friend at this awesome German beer garden. The Brig’s patio is perfect to get some fresh air and have a drink or bite to eat by your pupper’s side. Maybe you both had a long walk, and need a place to rest, maybe you’re meeting up with another dog lover, either way, this is the place to go when you’re with your furry companion!

6. Dacha Beer Garden
All are welcome at this German beer garden, even furry friends. Their outdoor seating area is perfect for you and your buddy to enjoy one of their German, Belgian or American craft beers, ciders, cocktails, or wines. At Dacha in Shaw, they serve a dog-friendly beer! So now, both of you can be sipping on a delicious beverage! Drink responsibly, doggos!
