D.C. dating is notorious, but plenty of people in the District are looking for love—and now, they just might be in luck!
The hit Netflix reality series, “Love Is Blind,” is reportedly sliding into DMs and searching for singles in Washington, D.C. for a new season.
Last week, the series’ production company Kinetic Content posted a casting call on Instagram for the cities of D.C., Denver, Minneapolis, and St. Paul.
Meanwhile, the chatter took to social media where Washingtonians divulged “Love Is Blind” producers had slid into their DMs—including on LinkedIn—and local businesses like Pop Fizz and VIDA Fitness confirmed to DCist that they were encouraged to send potential singles their way.
For those who avoid mainstream reality TV (you’re stronger than us), “Love is Blind” is a combination of reality TV and dating experimentation where 15 singles test their connections by communicating and dating in pods without seeing what each other looks like to see if love truly is blind. If all goes well, the partners can blindly propose, and if accepted they meet face-to-face for the first time.
What follows are weeks of tests involving vacationing, living together, meeting others from the pods, and enduring real-world stressors to see if the love can last. It all comes to a head when they walk down the aisle together in front of their friends and family and see who will actually say, “I do.”
Like any good reality show, what ensues in between is nothing short of love triangles, unrequited love, regret, shouting matches, and sometimes, happily ever after. (FWIW: Only four couples remain together out of all four seasons.)
Though it doesn’t specify which season of the show this is for, it’s been predicted that season 5 will premiere in fall 2023.
The current season, the fourth of the series, set in Seattle, Wa., is now on Netflix.
If you’re still hoping to give love a try, you can apply for the chance to appear on the series here. Here’s to hoping we see D.C. on the TV soon!
