A new Florida-inspired bar, Royal Sands Social Club, opened in Navy Yard on Thursday, Dec. 22.
From the owners behind Navy Yard’s beloved Mission—Fritz Brogan and Reed Landry—Royal Sands draws on Florida’s sun, sand, beaches, and pools to bring a Floridian flare to D.C.
The two-level, 14,000-square-foot space features three bars, private rooms, a DJ booth, and almost unbeatable views of Nationals Stadium.
But the real selling point? A stunning “swimming pool”-themed bar at the entrance, complete with a DJ booth “lifeguard station.” The space is adorned with faux palm trees and swinging chairs and offers additional entertainment, such as arcade games and a photo booth.
To truly drive the experience home, specialty cocktails include tropical favorites like the Frozen Pina Colada alongside new concoctions, such as the Sunny Place For Shady People (Tito’s Vodka, key lime juice, pink coconut foam, Pratt & Standard Pomegranate Grenadine).
If you get hungry, Royal Sands offers an array of appetizers and entrees equally as thematic, including pineapple guacamole and the Sunrise Burger.
Customers can sit “poolside,” drinking from an array of frozen cocktails, dancing to hits, and taking in the palm trees and other tropical ambiance—even during the frigid D.C. winter!
