If Adams Morgan Day wasn’t enough, you can immerse yourself in another beloved D.C. neighborhood on Sept. 17 with H Street Festival. Featuring live music and performances, street food, and the chance to patronize your favorite local businesses, this free festival is the perfect Saturday activity!
5. Get some exercise and entertainment with Walkingtown D.C.
This weeklong program—running Sept. 17-25—aims to exemplify the D.C.’s sights, neighborhoods, history, and walkability with a number of themed guided walking tours!
6. Indulge in a cocktail celebrating the end of National Negroni Week
Founded in 2013 by Imbibe Magazine, National Negroni Week (Sept. 12-18) celebrates the classic cocktail with thousands of partnering bars and restaurants nationwide in the name of charity. This year, National Negroni Week is raising money for Slow Food, an international organization that works with local communities to preserve biodiversity and promote healthy communities with access to good food and beverages. In the D.C.-area, more than 60 bars and restaurants are participating, offering a range from classic takes on the cocktail to modern flares and bar-specific twists!
7. Celebrate Smithsonian’s 18th Annual Museum Day This Saturday
Sponsored by Smithsonian Magazine, the one-day event applies to a number of participating museums across the country. Visitors can go online and input an email address, which will issue them one ticket that is good for free entry for two people to participating museums. However, you can only sign up for free entry to one museum. Museums and cultural institutions that are participating in Washington, D.C., include the U.S. Botanic Garden, the George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum, and Dumbarton House!
