Lovers of classic cocktails can rejoice with an excuse to indulge this week in celebration of National Negroni Week!
Founded in 2013 by Imbibe Magazine, National Negroni Week (Sept. 12-18) celebrates the classic cocktail with thousands of partnering bars and restaurants nationwide in the name of charity.
This year, National Negroni Week is raising money for Slow Food, an international organization that works with local communities to preserve biodiversity and promote healthy communities with access to good food and beverages.
After registering online and making a donation to Slow Food, the participating venues appear on the official Negroni Week map, so customers can locate ones in their area. Each venue then offers a range from classic takes on the cocktail to modern flares and bar-specific twists!
In the D.C.-area, more than 60 bars and restaurants are participating.
Immigrant Food+ in Northwest D.C. is offering a number of variations highlighting different regions, such as the Stoni Negroni, as well as a Negroni flight—in case you can’t decide!
Meanwhile, the Red Hen has a special “Red, White and Green” Negroni Menu for the week, with the Negroni colors reflecting the Italian flag.
All-Purpose, an Italian eatery, will be offering five different takes on the cocktail.
Just over the river in Alexandria, The Majestic is featuring a Koshow Negroni: Roku Japanese gin, Campari, and strawberry peppercorn infused sweet vermouth.
