New year, new bucket list!
It’s time to say goodbye to 2020 (finally!) and HELLO to 2021! Although there’s still a lot to be done in the new year of course, it sure feels like it’s time for a fresh start.
From wonderful candlelit concerts to the newest bars coming to the District this upcoming year, these are some of the best happenings every Washingtonian should add to their bucket list. Here’s to things looking up in 2021!
1. Be inspired by Les Colombes the National Cathedral’s newest art installation
Created by German artist Michael Pendry, Le Colombes features over 1,000 origami doves, delicately arranged to float over the nave. Symbolizing hope and the Holy Spirit, Pendry’s installation has been brought to the National Cathedral in the hopes of bringing a feeling of optimism for 2021 after a challenging year.
2. Experience classical music in a whole new light at one of these stunning candlelit concerts
Calm your mind and experience classical music in a new light with these sensational concerts in some of Boston’s most magical locations. Simply known as “Candlelight,“ this concert series invites everyone to relive the greatest works of classical music, from Vivaldi to Mozart to Bach, in an intimate atmosphere.
3. Howl at the moon at DC’s new dueling piano bar
Originally meant to open this past Spring, Howl at the Moon will finally be opening its DC spot this year. So get ready to dance, drink by the bucketload and get howling at DC’s newest piano bar!
4. Grab a bite at Western Market, the District’s newest food hall and market
Also meant to open earlier this year, Western Market in Foggy Bottom will finally be opening its doors to the public in 2021. Located on 2000 Penn Ave, the food hall takes the name of one of three historic markets planned by L’Enfant back in 1802. In honor of its heritage, Western Market will be offering 12 new restaurants within 12,300-square-foot space. A foodie’s dream!
5-7. Visit DC’s newest museums
This past year, DC added two new museums to its ranks — Planet Word and the National U.S. Army Museum. So if you haven’t made your way to check out these awesome new additions, 2021 might be the perfect moment to do so!
Also coming soon to the District is the Museum of Illusions. This bamboozling new museum has no opening date yet, but you won’t want to miss out on it and the endless photo ops! Check it out here.
8. Travel down the Rabbit hole at the Mad Hatter’s delightfully mad (Gin &) Tea Party in DC
We can’t wait to experience this new hit when it comes to the city! Your hosts for the evening, The Mad Hatter and his even madder guests invite you to delight and bewitch the senses as you enjoy a 90-minute psychedelic cocktail menu. Get tickets here.
