The Los Angeles-based salad chain Sweetgreen is debuting its first pickup-only storefront in Washington, D.C.’s Mount Vernon Square on Wednesday, Oct. 26.
Although many of Sweetgreen’s current stores have a pickup option, the new Mount Vernon Square storefront will be the first where customers must order online ahead of time and then come just to pick up their order, according to a press release.
There is no indoor dining area—only shelves so customers can grab their orders and go! Customers will be able to order ahead via the Sweetgreen website, the Sweetgreen app, or third-party delivery apps.
The move to open the innovative storefront comes after Sweetgreen found that digital orders accounted for 67% of the company’s total revenue in 2021.
But don’t expect to see more of these pickup-only storefront popping up just yet—the Mount Vernon Square location is acting as a test for the company at this time.
