The Sound of Music’s “Do-Re-Mi” got a pandemic makeover and it may be just what we needed to hear now that we’re all Von Trapped at home!
The world is in total lockdown but people are still managing to get through the pandemic with a bit of humor and Shirley Serban is certainly one of them. The New Zealander recently gave the famous Do-Re-Mi song a COVID-19 makeover and honestly it’s probably the pandemic PSA we all needed to hear.
The video has now over 5.5 million very well deserved views because the Von Trapplings telling us to wash our hands and #StayAtHome might be one of the funniest songs to come out of these strange times we’re living. The video is so spot on it honestly had me doing a double-take to make sure that it wasn’t actually Julie Andrews singing the newest COVID-19 musical hit. Serban’s voice is scarily similar to that of the famous actress!
Part 2 of The Sound of a Pandemic premiered last night on Serban’s YouTube channel and it features Maria singing about her favorite things to do at home during the quarantine. Another excellent bit of musical entertainment that will certainly put a smile on your face.
The New Zealand YouTuber isn’t the only one readapting Broadway classics to the sounds of the pandemic. The Marsh family from Kent recently created their own pandemical version of Les Mis’ “One Day More” voicing all their lockdown frustrations! Could these compile into the next big Broadway hit, Quarantine: The Virtual Musical? We certainly hope so!
