The children’s author in collaboration with the Library of Congress is releasing weekly videos featuring drawing lessons, reading aloud and much more!
Tra la laa! The “Captain Underpants” author is here to help save our quarantine with his weekly videos for all those kids and adults who may want to try their hand at drawing while at home!
The Library of Congress is now uploading weekly videos and other downloadable activities created by Dav Pilkey to its website and social media feeds. All materials can be accessed for free and include fun activities like tutorials for learning how to draw and create characters from Pilkey’s Dog Man series, fun read-a-louds and other inspirational resources from the Library’s collection.
Tune in every Friday at 8 am for new videos created Pilkey himself featuring conversations about books and creativity, and tips for kids and families to create their own characters and act out scenes from Pilkey’s Dog Man book series, among other fun activities.
The Library of Congress is now closed to the public due to the ongoing pandemic but it has plenty of online resources and programs to keep adults and children alike. Besides Dav Pilkey’s series, the Library has launched a weekly program featuring appearances from authors at the National Book Festival during the past 20 years. The first blog is already up on their site and features everyone’s favorite chef, José Andres. Next week, on Apr 8 the National Book Festival will also host its first online conversation, so make sure to follow the Library of Congress on social media for more updates.
