The Lego National Cathedral is expected to be at least 500,000 bricks when finished, breaking the 300,000 brick record established by Durham Cathedral’s model back in 2016. The 1:40 scale model will be more than 13 feet long and 8 feet wide and “bigger than a minivan” as Cathedral officials say. The first brick was placed in April 2019, but to continue building the National Cathedral needs you.

Purchase your bricks for $2 apiece and lay them down on the Lego model with the help of a trained volunteer. The project started as a fundraising one to help cover the $19 million in repairs for damage from the 2011 earthquake, so when you’re purchasing a Lego brick you’ll contribute to breaking world records while helping restore the actual building.
If you don’t live in DC or cannot make it to the National Cathedral you can also purchase your bricks online and volunteers will place your bricks on the Lego structure. So no matter where you are you’ll be able to contribute to a record-breaking enterprise.
