Bon Appetit’s 2022 50 Best New Restaurants list includes two local D.C.-area eateries.
Northeast D.C.’s Daru was among the 50. Open just over a year, the “Indian-ish” restaurant and cocktail bar—the combined efforts of chef Suresh Sundas and bar manager Dante Datta— was noted by the magazine for menu highlights such as the Chai-teani and Black Daal Burrata.
Also mentioned, just a short drive from D.C. is Z&Z Manoushe Bakery. This Rockville, Md., haunt began as a stall in D.C.’s Foggy Bottom farmer’s market in 2016. Now, the brick-and-mortar bakery is offering unique staples, like the Toum Raider Pizza (Palestinian za’atar and olive oil with fresh vegetables and toum served on manoushe).
