The Miracle Theatre: a miraculous venue in Eastern Market
Originally built in 1909 as a vaudeville and movie house, and later on converted into a church, the theatre was restored in 2017 and reopened as a concert venue. Located in the vibrant Eastern Market neighborhood of DC, the theater’s historic charm and character also make it a unique and memorable setting for Candlelight concerts. Its ornate decor with a gorgeous stained glass ceiling, combined with hundreds of twinkling candles, add to the ambiance of the performances.
National City Christian Church: a progressive voice in the community
This historic church, located in downtown D.C., was founded in 1843 and has been an important institution in the city. The National City Christian Church is notable for its commitment to social justice and activism. It has been involved in many important social movements throughout its history, including the civil rights movement and the fight for LGBTQ+ rights.
The church’s large sanctuary features a beautiful pipe organ, and has a smaller chapel, which is used for more intimate concerts. This setting is ideal for Candlelight, as the live musicians are surrounded by hundreds of candles, making for an unforgettable experience. Blessed be the music!
St. Francis Hall: a multi-purpose venue
Located in the Brookland neighborhood, it was originally constructed in the early 1900s as a school and convent for the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in America. However, today St. Francis Hall is a popular venue for weddings, receptions, and as of this season, Candlelight concerts. This venue is known for its excellent acoustics, which make it a favorite among local musicians and performers. The hall’s stage is equipped with professional sound and lighting equipment, ensuring that every performance sounds and looks the best. What more can you ask for?
The Howard Theatre: a part of history
Located at 620 T Street, The Howard Theatre is a historic theater that was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. A 30-foot stage, two-tiered horseshoe-shaped seating, and state-of-the-art lighting and audio systems are some of the features making this venue in DC impressive. Fully equipped for any kind of event, The Howard Theatre is the perfect setting for an intimate Candlelight concert.
Discover the magic of Candlelight in some of The District’s most spectacular venues. The pleasant glimmering candles, classical melodies played by live musicians, and the superb locations, really is a combination unlike any other.
