This cafe is a dream come true! Drink coffee, eat pastries and play with cats!
Crumbs & Whiskers is the city’s first-ever cat cafe that reopened in June 2021, after being closed almost a year due to the pandemic. Partnered with Homeward Trails Animal Rescue and The Cat’s Meow, these organizations and shelters provide the cats of the cafe with the hope to find their forever home. Indeed, all the cats in the cafe are up for adoption! The three goals of the cafe are to reduce euthanasia rates, to increase adoptions, and to improve livelihoods. Additionally, their more short-term mission is to save 500 cats by Labor Day.
The cafe’s system is simple, customers pay $20 to spend 30 minutes at the cafe or $35 to stay for 70 minutes for a Kitten Extravaganza. They serve pastries from Dog Tag bakery, which strives to empower veterans, military spouses, and caregivers “with the tools to rediscover their purpose after serving our nation and reenter their communities with confidence and support.” All purchases go right back to the program thus, the community.
Whether playing with the kittens and giving them some comfort, or ordering a pastry and a coffee from the wholesome organization, customers will be making a positive impact no matter what they do at Crumbs & Whiskers.
Since the cafe has opened, cats on average stay for up to a month and a half before they get adopted, which is really fast, meaning that this business is striving! So, visit Crumbs & Whiskers and come for a coffee then leave with a new companion!
