Fall is here, and it’s ushering in a season of changing leaves and crisp air perfect for pumpkin patches and apples galore! Secret D.C. compiled this list to help you find the perfect place to get your pick of this season’s best apples. Check them out below:
1. Weber’s Farm
Weber’s Farm is the oldest cider mill in continuous use in Maryland, producing deliciously refreshing cider since 1947. So if you’re interested in fresh-pressed cider in addition to picking apples, we highly suggest giving Weber’s a chance! The farm is currently offering PYO apples and flowers.

2. Catoctin Mountain Orchard
Catoctin Mountain Orchard is now open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through September. Currently, you can pick your own variety of apples every Saturday and Sunday in September and October! If you’ve got an especially sweet tooth, stop by their market where you can get your hands on freshly-made apple pies, popcorn and jams, along with some other mouthwatering goodies.

3. Great Country Farms
Apple-picking season is well underway at Great Country Farms so get ready to pick Honey Crisp, Gala, Jona Free, and other varieties of apples to your hearts content. The farm has also opened its Henway Corn Maze and the chance to stroll through the market for other goodies like apple cider donuts, apple cider, sandwiches, soup, and more!

4. Rock Hill Orchards
Come for the apples, stay for the ice cream! Currently picking at Rock Hill, you’ll find peaches and apples of all kinds including Blondees and Macouns. But Rock Hill is also home to Woodbourne Creamery, where you can get freshly-made ice cream and as we all know it’s never too cold for ice cream. Scoop one up along with them apples! Reservations required.

5. Carter Mountain Orchard
Apple-picking season has arrived at Carter Mountain Orchard with Gala, Golden Delicious, and Honeycrisp apples available for picking! Located just down the road from Jefferson’s Monticello, this farm also offers scenic tours of the orchard. Carter Mountain Orchard is also home to Bold Rock Tap Room, where you can taste hard ciders made with local apples while taking in the gorgeous views. Oh, and it’s also dog-friendly, so make sure to bring your pooch along to participate in the fall festivities!

6. Mackintosh Fruit Farm
Located in Berryville, VA., right now at Mackintosh you can to pick Golden Delicious, Criterion, Crimson Crisp, Honeycrisp apples! Also open is their market, where you’ll be able to get a variety of meats, cheeses, and preserves.
