The council approved an emergency bill this past Wednesday that allows DC restaurants and bars to deliver alcohol with their orders.
In an effort to aid local businesses during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the DC government passed an emergency bill on Mar 17 that allows local restaurants and bars to deliver beer, wine and other spirits.
All those establishments which receive the ok from DC’s Alcohol Beverage Regulation Administration will be allowed to deliver alcoholic beverages with their orders. The beverages approved for delivery include beer, wine, mixed cocktails, hard cider, sake, flavored malt beverages, kombucha, kefir and hard seltzer. The only caveat, that order must include at least one prepared food item. So no, you can’t just have them deliver you a bottle of Malbec. But if you do order an alcoholic drink with your meal, make sure to have your ID at hand when you get your meal as all establishments are required to check it before delivering the orders.
Some of the places delivering alcoholic beverages with their orders include Shaw’s Tiger Fork and Calico, who have teamed up to deliver cocktails inside juice pouches, and The Royal in LeDroit Park, which is delivering batch cocktails big enough for five people. If you’re looking to buy full bottles, however, there are some local distilleries like Republic Restoratives, that are still taking online orders for pick-up or delivery.
