Washingtonians looking to plan affordable but adventurous summer trips are in luck, as the airline PLAY kicked off nonstop flights from Dulles International Airport to Iceland’s Keflavik Airport on Wednesday, April 26.
“Play has had a strong summer since the beginning in the United States this year, and adding IAD is an important move for our growth in the region,” PLAY CEO Birgir Jónsson said in a press release.
The discount start-up airline is offering daily flights between the two airports on its Airbus A321 and A320 aircraft, boasting approximately 180 seats and taking passengers to the Icelandic airport near its capital of Reykjavik.
Looking for a different kind of Euro-trip? PLAY will also offer a number of affordable one-stop connections from Dulles to more than a dozen additional European destinations.
“Washington, D.C., is a key destination for both European tourists and American travelers, and expanding our service with flights from IAD will strengthen Play’s presence while giving passengers convenient and affordable flights,” said Jónsson.
In early March, Norse Atlantic Airways announced its plan to launch nonstop flights from Dulles International Airport to London this summer for fares as low as $195 each way beginning summer 2023.
