How will you remember 2020?
It goes without saying that 2020 was an unprecedented year for many of us. Marked by a pandemic, protests, economic crisis and a historic presidential election, 202 is certainly a year for the history books.
But while historians will look back and remember 2020 as a tumultuous year, the National Museum of American History wants to know how you lived it and will remember it. The museum is currently compiling personal records from everyone across the U.S. to create a digital time capsule for future generations and “for conversation right now.”
Anyone and everyone is invited to share their stories with the museums wether it be about their role as a healthcare worker or the art you produced during lockdown. The museum’s capsule features a wide range of stories currently sorted out into 15 different categories. These are: Art, business and work life, COVID-19/quarantine, education, entertainment and leisure, family life, food and drink, military lie, music, policing/public safety, political life, protest/demonstration, racial justice, religion and other.
If you’d like to share your 2020 story with the museum, all you got to do is go to their “Stories of 2020” website and complete their story submission form.
If you’d like to find out more about how other fellow Americans have lived this historic year, the National Museum of American History has already published several of the submitted stories so everyone can browse through the stories of 2020.
