The National Museum of African American History and Culture– NMAAHC Hip-Hop Block Party returns to D.C. this summer for its second year! The event brings together some of hip-hop’s most influential artists and DJs for an hour of fresh beats, and hip-hop discussion. This year’s event will honor 50 years of hip-hop history according to the recent update from the Smithsonian.
In addition to hip-hop and a panel discussion from some of your favorite beatmakers, there will be a series of interactive games at the festival. Get creative with graffiti art and bust a move with break dancing!
Courtesy of the NMAAHC, an outdoor exhibition will fill the National Mall with hip-hop artifacts just recently added to the museum’s collection. Tickets go live in July for the free event and are required for entry.
The NMAAHC will also be celebrating hip-hop beyond the block! Take a hip-hop centered gallery tour and finish the adventure at the Smithsonian’s Club Cafe.
