On Saturday, Mayor Bowser announced that masks must be worn indoors in public spaces. Danny Meyer is taking it one step further.
Food industry icon Danny Meyer just announced that he will be requiring proof of vaccination at all of his restaurants for both staff and customers.
Meyer shared the news in an interview with CNN on July 29, and an update has been posted on the USHG that reads: “To keep our community safe, from September 7, 2021 forward we are requiring all guests to show proof they are fully vaccinated. Our teams are required to be fully vaccinated as well.”
Guests will be required to bring their physical Covid-19 vaccine card or a photo of their vaccination card upon arrival. Those restaurants include the iconic Maialino Mare and Anchovy Social, and more. See the entire list here.
“If you really want to go unvaccinated, you can dine somewhere else, and you can also go work somewhere else,” Meyer said in an interview. Though he said he would call it a “company policy rather than a mandate.”
Danny Meyer also famously founded Shake Shack, which is now a public company. Of that, he said, “Shake Shack will make whatever appropriate decision at the appropriate time.”
