There will be no 2021 Cherry Blossom Festival Parade due to coronavirus, officials say.
It looks like we won’t get a parade next year either Washingtonians. 2021’s Cherry Blossom Parade has been canceled due to coronavirus concerns, organizers announced on Tuesday, October 20.

“The health and safety of our Festival staff and the attendees, sponsors, and other stakeholders remain the Festival’s top priority,” said Diana Mayhew, president and CEO of the National Cherry Blossom Festival.
This year’s parade was also canceled earlier in March due to the looming coronavirus pandemic. But do not fret, the Festival is still going on, albeit a little different. The springtime landmark event will take place next year from March 20 through August 11 and will feature a number of safe, entertaining, and fun virtual happenings.
“While we know the community will miss the tradition of the Parade, a striking and celebratory procession down Constitution Avenue, plans to present the 2021 Festival in innovative and fun ways are already underway,” continued Mayhew.
Festival organizers are already working with the DC mayor’s office, National Parks Service and other partners to plan a variety of new events for DC’s most popular Spring event. Although we’re a bit sad the parade will no longer be taking place next year, we cannot wait to see what the Cherry Blossom Festival has in store for 2021!
