It finally reopens!
After 18 months of being closed due to the pandemic, The National Children’s Museum is reopening on September 2! During the pandemic, the children’s museum would have been extremely difficult to maintain since as we know, children like to put things in their mouths and run around. Now that it’s reopening the museum is taking extra precautions to keep stations extra clean, implement social distancing and post helpful signage to remind visitors about safety measures.
Brand new interactive exhibits are on display for kids to learn, explore and be creative. The art + tech exhibit is presented by Nickelodeon where kids will be able to interact with their favorite characters virtually. They’ll be able to immerse themselves in the Bikini Bottom with SpongeBob, discover Paw Patrol’s rescue training, and go through a sensory-filled Slime funhouse. At the data science alley, young visitors will “discover how data points are collected and aggregated. Explore figures and statistics through play, and think about the data found in our day-to-day lives” through the many activities offered. Many new exhibits are on installation for young visitors to discover and to encourage them to dream big.
Indeed, this museum is made for children and is the perfect environment for them to experience, learn, and understand new things as they are still discovering the world. The museum’s mission is “to inspire children to care about and change the world” and they do this quite well with their numerous exhibits.
