On Thursday, April 8, DC Health announced all residents 16 and older will be able to get vaccinated starting on Monday, April 12, a week earlier than expected.
On a statement released on Twitter on Thursday night, April 8, DC Health announced that it had started offering appointments to residents who were 16 and older and did not qualify for priority status through their job or medical condition.
“All DC residents who are seniors, essential workers or have qualifying medical conditions registered in the portal have been offered appointments thru the portal,” read the statement. “We are now able to move to Phase Two for the general population with appointments starting on April 12, which is earlier than planned.”
The news came shortly after Mayor Bowser announced the vaccine would be available to all starting on Monday, April 19, but it would seem like DC’s positive vaccination rate has helped DC push the date forward by one week.

More than 162,000 DC residents were fully or partially vaccinated as of Monday, April 5 , and as many 190,000 had pre-registered with DC Health for the vaccine and waiting for an appointment.
Now DC’s Department of Health is asking all residents to “Take the shot” and preregister for vaccination on their website or by calling 1-855-363-0333.
