DC’s beloved Dolcezza Gelato will be closing five of its retail locations this October.
On Tuesday, September 29, Dolcezza Gelato announced it would be closing its Bethesda Row, The Wharf, CityCenter, Logan Circle, and Dupont Circle locations for good this October. Like many other DC retailers, Dolcezza has been severely affected by the pandemic, and although it won’t be shutting down completely it has had to downsize significantly.

“For the past few weeks, we have been thinking a lot about what the last 16 years has meant to us as a family and the impact this business has had on our lives,” wrote owners Violeta Edelman and Robb Duncan on a heartfelt post. “So it is with these beautiful thoughts in mind and the sobering effect that COVID-19 has had on our industry that we are announcing the closing of five of our store locations.”
“We will miss seeing you at these shops but know that we will keep finding ways to get our gelato – and the Dolcezza spirit – into your freezers and hearts.”

Thankfully for fans of Dolcezza, the Argentine-inspired gelatería will still be serving its incredible coffee and gelato at their Hirshhorn and Virginia locations. Their pints also remain available in all Whole Foods Markets nationwide and in another 1500 grocery stores across the country. Owners have yet to reveal whether their stunning Union Market factory will remain open.
