The Washington Nationals’ Racing Presidents are a beloved mainstay of each home game—and now, you could be one!
Every fourth inning at Nationals Stadium since 2006, the Racing Presidents—George, Thomas, Abe, and Teddy—race each other on the field as the crowd cheers for their favorite. Now, there’s an opening for a part-time position as one of these adored mascots.
According to the job posting, applicants must be able to “take on the persona” of their Racing President, be 18 or older, be a height of between 5’7″ and 6’6″, physically capable of doing tasks in their 50-lb. costume, and, of course, able to run the fourth inning race!
“Excellence, Performance, and Accountability,” the posting reads. “These core values set the tone in everything we do, help us succeed on and off the field, make a difference in the community and provide the best guest experience in sports. It is important that the person in the position commits themselves to these core values so that we can constantly move forward in the same direction – Together.”
